One of my favorite contemporary artists is Marc Hanson. He now lives in Loveland, Colorado or thereabouts, but I've been an admirer of his work for years. He is a master of both the pastel and oil mediums and perhaps others of which I'm unaware. The man has so much talent and like many great artists, deserves more fame and recognition.

The reason I mention him in this blog post is because he has given me the signal distinction of an award in the first ever Signature and Master Signature Show of The Pastel Society of Colorado. I became a Signature Member of this august organization back in 2008. Just this year I was honored with Master Signature Member status. It's significance is the number of national shows in which I've been awarded recognition and the service I've given to the society. It takes quite a bit of each to gain the status and I'm very proud of it.

The award received is the Judson's Art Outfitters Award. It entitles me to spend some money on the wonderful art supplies that Judson's Art Outfitters offers. My interest at this moment is in new plein air equipment for oil painting but that may change by the time I exercise my options.

I'm very grateful for this recognition by one of my favorite artists and for the support of a great company whose dedication to the art community is unparalleled.
