This wintry perspective on western ranch country evolved from my desire to crystallize several different notions into one canvas. It could be in any of the western states but just so happens to have been inspired mostly by scenes from Idaho near the little village of Victor, not far from Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The settling of weather into the distant valley was something I had experienced in that area one May when I was there for a painting and photo outing with a friend. Atmospherics are one of my favorite subjects. The placement of the red barn is for best composition to lead the eye into the scene.
