The old stone bridges of my home area in eastern Pennsylvania hold a lot of powerful memories and emotions for me. This particular bridge on Unami Creek near Sumneytown was painted by my mother many years ago and is still one of my favorites of hers. It was great to be able to go back and visit the scene with her some years back and then create this version which is from an unusual angle. It is the same bridge you can also see in Wetzel's Mill in Snow. The trees remind me of exotic dancers. Sycamores always seem vibrant because of their light colored bark and dramatic shapes.
