This is the first in a new series of paintings in a square format that I'm calling, Squaring the West. Yellowstone Canyon is one of my go-to places when I need uplift and inspiration. It never fails to instill me with a sense of profound ecstasy. There is a paved trail from the canyon's north rim to the brink of the falls - the vantage point for this painting. I have also climbed down the steep slope through thick fallen timber almost to the brink on the south side, maybe not such a smart thing to do but good for a jolt of adrenaline!
